We are a Certified Small Women-Owned Business (S/WBE)
Hilmerson Safety® is a full-service safety product design and manufacturing company serving the construction industry led by our President & CEO, Deb Hilmerson.
Hilmerson’s passion for construction safety spans 30 years from a field labor to Safety Director and Consultant for companies like 3M and Mortenson. Her real-world construction experience and years as a safety consultant fueled her quest to “engineer out the hazard” and led to the development of the Hilmerson Safety Rail System™. She continues to challenge the construction industry to “join the movement” and challenge the status quo of construction equipment practices.
“Many of our predecessors’ “bend” guardrail or fencing with profits in mind from the lens of a manufacturer,” said Hilmerson. “We’re different. We manufacture guardrails and fencing from the lens of a safety consultant, construction worker, business owner, a mom, a friend. Most of our competition are not / were not safety professionals and develop products with a low-cost, average-quality initiative – typically manufacturing overseas. Not us.
We get construction and we know the challenges our customers face on the job. We engineer quality, lean products in a “kit” style. But don’t worry, we’ve not lost the “for profit” mindset. Our versatile product systems are interchangeable, reusable, and re-rentable. They offer fast installs, are easily transportable and ultimately, save contractor’s money.” – Deb Hilmerson, President & CEO / Hilmerson Safety
Hilmerson continues to pave new paths for women entering the construction industry
“When I started over 30 years ago women represented about 1% of the construction workforce,” said Hilmerson. “In 2022 we were at 10.9% and the forecast for 2023 looks amazing!
What is also encouraging is that within the construction industry the gender pay gap is significantly smaller in construction occupations in comparison to the national average of combined occupations. Women are emerging in the industry and making good money!”
Working with Deb and the Hilmerson team has exceeded my expectations. Deb wears all the hats and does it well – she is the Owner/Inventor/QA/Customer Satisfaction Agent/Solutions Expediter.
Hilmerson has a great capacity to serve large and small projects with the manufacturing chain they use. Deb can help you right size your solution to be project specific or develop a fleet profit center with all the bells and whistles. There are some real lean improvements in having a system can scale up and down, and in the modular carting and storage systems that can be stacked, racked, flown and rolled. Moreover, the real benefit is having Deb as a field-focused and solutions-driven advocate to your team as soon as you meet her.
The customer service and support has not stopped since we met. Deb brings many years of relevant field experience – she isn’t just selling you a widget off the shelf, she’s offering a suite of solutions for challenges she knows exist.
