A $5 Billion, Six-Year Project
In September 2024, Mayo Clinic embarked on an ambitious $5 billion, six-year project to transform its flagship campus in downtown Rochester, MN. The renovation will add five new buildings, including two nine-story clinical buildings, spanning a total of 2.4 million square feet.
This large-scale project focuses on “future-oriented design elements” and digital infrastructure to enhance patient care and improve efficiency across Mayo Clinic’s multidisciplinary care teams.

Hilmerson Products Deployed:
Next150 Construction selected the Hilmerson Barrier Fence System™, which includes 2,000 linear feet of 10’ x 6’ fence panels, patented side saddle brackets, spacer panels, top clamps, and fasteners. This robust perimeter security system offers sustainable fencing that can be reused throughout the five-year project, providing maximum flexibility for the multiple phases of construction.
Why Hilmerson?
Next150 Construction chose Hilmerson for our durable, easy-to-install products that offer long-term cost savings. The fencing can be relocated and reused across several projects, streamlining installation and lowering operational costs.
ROI & Benefits:
- Sustainability & Reusability: The ability to relocate and reuse the fence system throughout the project ensures both time and cost efficiency.
- Enhanced Security: The Hilmerson Barrier Fence System™ provides robust perimeter security for Mayo Clinic’s sprawling construction site.
- Long-Term Value: Over the five-year span, Next150 will benefit from Hilmerson’s cost-effective and reusable system, ensuring a strong return on investment.
Looking Ahead:
As the project progresses, Next150 Construction plans to expand their use of Hilmerson products by incorporating the Hilmerson Safety Rail System™ to ensure further safety compliance throughout the site.
